Buffalo, NY. On Saturday, July 13,2004, ICE hosted a 32-person Super Chexx tournament in conjunction with Just Dishin’ and Smoldered Society. We were greeted by players from Michigan, Missouri, and many parts of New York. The festivities included an extensive ICE factory tour where we showed our guests a very in-depth behind-the-scenes happenings of all game lines as well a tailgate party the day prior to the big event for all players to sharpen their skills. The tournament festivities kicked off at 12pm complete with a DJ, Wingnutz Bar and Grill serving up some tasty treats and plenty of new IPA’s from Smoldered Society. There was also a special guest appearance from Arda Ocal from ESPN who added much excitement and enthusiasm throughout the entire day. Arda also has a personal Super Chexx game so his passion for the game is great and not to mention he’s a pretty good player! The tournament scoring was headed up by Shawn Smith and his wife Tracy. According to Greg Kania at ICE, we couldn’t have executed the smoothness of this tournament without the two of them. We appreciate them very much for giving up a summer weekend by spending it with us in Buffalo, NY.
Our partners, Just Dishin’ and Smoldered Society were such an amazing group of people to work with. We all put in countless numbers of hours to make this event unique and hopefully very memorable for the players. A very special thanks to Derek Hosken and to Cameron Frank as well as our many sponsors. The entire team was extremely organized and such a committed group of people to work with.
After almost 8 hours of play, we crowned Joe Lewis from Detroit the tournament winner. He hosted up the custom winner’s belt to a cheering crowd! Custom “Super Chexx” trophies were also awarded to second and third place.
We thank all the players that attended the tournament, and we all look forward to making this event even bigger and better in future years to come.
